Forza Horizon 2 Microsoft Xbox 360 Video Games

Explore Southern France and Northern Italy in Forza Horizon 2 for Xbox 360

There are many types of racing games: You have the tried-and-true formula of laid-out tracks in an urban jungle, there are those that restrict you to real-world racetracks, and then there are open-world driving games, which let you do whatever your adrenaline-filled heart desires. The last category is what Forza Horizon 2 falls into. With its huge roster of over 200 drivable cars and a sweeping but accessible landscape, it is a driving game that gives you the freedom to explore as well as the tools when you want to get serious.

What Is Forza Horizon 2?

  • Franchise: Forza Horizon 2 is the seventh installment in the Forza franchise and the second in the Forza Horizon series. Published by Microsoft Studios, it was released in 2014 for the Xbox 360 console and other platforms and is compatible with racing wheels for the system.
  • Story: The game has you participate in the Horizon Festival, an event in which drivers the world over participate in various skill-based races to earn skill points to unlock new perks that improve the rewards you earn or unlock new features.

What Is Gameplay Like?

  • Open World: The game is set in a region between Southern France and Northern Italy and faithfully reproduces its streets, highways, and coastal roads for the most part. You can drive anywhere at any time and are often rewarded when you discover a particular area off the beaten path. The title has three times more drivable area in-game than its predecessors and allows you to take part in races and special events you discover throughout the area.
  • Online: This Microsoft Xbox 360 game has an online component that you can join with a press of a button. You are taken to an online version of the map where you can complete items in the Co-op bucket list with a friend or a random person online. These provide new challenges throughout the region so constantly checking in online on your Xbox 360 is rewarding.
  • Bucket List: This is a group of challenges you must complete to progress the story. Challenges include car-specific races, such as off-road challenges where you must choose any off-roader vehicle to power through the badlands against others in multiplayer or against your friends' Drivatars in single player. There are also those that have you zipping across asphalt roads in exotics, coupes, and other cars built for the road.
  • Drive Anywhere in Anything: In between races, you can explore the region and earn valuable skill points, even by fooling around in the game's methodically crafted areas. There is an abundance of ramps, tunnels, and long, curving roads on which you can drift or catch some serious air to rack up the points.
