When you still have old favorite movies that you like to enjoy on either VHS, DVD, or Blu-Ray disc, you need to have a machine that can play them. The benefit of having a combo player from brands like Hitachi is that you dont have to change inputs to new machines, meaning its easier to enjoy your home media without needing to replace old copies.

What is the Difference Between a VCR, DVD, and Blu-Ray Player?

These machines all have one thing in common: they can play movies on disc or tape. They are, however, different in what they can play. The main differences that you should be aware of are:

• VCR: A VCR plays VHS tapes and was the only way to watch movies for decades. VHS tapes are in the shape of a rectangle and are almost an inch thick. They use a tape reel inside that records video. A VCR is the only way to play this kind of tape, and the easiest way to find one is as a VCR/DVD combo.
• DVD Player: These play DVDs, circular discs that look exactly like a CD. These often have space for just one disc, or they may be able to carry four or five at a time on a carousel. 
• Blu-Ray player: A Blu-Ray disc player plays Blu-Ray discs, which are basically DVDs but in high definition with more disc space. A Blu-Ray player can usually also play DVDs.

While many products have been discontinued, there are still many used products available. Some of the models you can still find are: 

• BD-P100: This Blu-Ray player can play BD-R Blu-Ray and DVD discs, along with CD-RW and CD-R to play music. It has USB memory and an SD card reader, so you can view other kinds of media. It measures 280 mm by 39 mm by 198 mm and weighs 1.05 kg. It comes with a remote control and you can easily connect it to your TV with cables.
• DV-PF2U: This is a DVD/VCR combo. It can play VHS cassette, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD, DVD+R, DVD-R, including MP3 tracks. It has pan and scan conversion and a parental lock with the ability to change the on-screen language.
• DV-PF4E: This is another DVD player and VCR combo that can record to VHS. It plays all CD and DVD disc formats as the DV-PF2U, and has Dolby Digital virtual surround sound. There is a programmable timer and one touch recording with progressive scan.
